Art > From Many Hands

Due to a series of unfortunate events the Cedar Mill Art Show, “Art From Many Hands” scheduled for Wednesday, May 14th has been postponed until Friday, May 30th. We are extremely hopeful that this will allow enough time for things to fall into place. If not, we may have to revisit the idea of a show taking place. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this causes for calendars, but we greatly appreciate your understanding. The opportunity to share the wonderful work of our students is one we don’t want to miss.

Professional Artisans this year

Two local musicians, Neil Hollister and Josh Carlsen, will fill the halls with their violin and guitar talents, while student musicians will once again provide the perfect accompaniment to the professional artist displays. Those artists include Ed Kornbrath, a former Cedar Mill parent and ceramic designer; Tami Dean who will be making a return visit to Cedar Mill Art Night with her jewelry designs; our own Sally Weber will show us one of her (many!) talents outside of the classroom--beading; and Ben Adams, an all time favorite afterschool art instructor and multi-talented artist. And just to prove that art doesn't have to be stuffy, you'll want to see Joe Mishkin turn balloons into art while entertaining the crowd.

These professional artisans will not only be volunteering their time, but literally sharing their talent with donated items for an Art Night Raffle. Tickets will be sold for $1 and proceeds will directly benefit the Cedar Mill Art Program, which seeks to fund an Artist in Residence opportunity as well as ongoing supply needs. But the raffle items are not limited to our Art Night professionals, if you or someone you know has an item or talent to donate, we would love to include it. We welcome the opportunity to literally showcase the many creative hands in our school community and encourage family/friend/parent donations to this raffle. Contact Lisa Stember for more details.

Everyone will have the opportunity to "try their hand" at something creative with one of the hands-on projects suitable for kids of all ages.

How You Can Help

As with all great events, many hands make light work. We are signing up volunteers now for short shifts (we want everyone to enjoy this night), and could use your help. If you are interested, please e-mail Luis Rodriguez.

So enough about hands, plan to move your feet to Art Night on May 30th!

We look forward to seeing you there!
